PQI Announces Grants for Parkinson’s Care Post Graduate Unit of Study
Following its mid-year meeting Parkinson’s Queensland’s Management Committee committed to providing a limited number of Grants or Awards to be taken up by Queensland based registered nurses wishing to take up the Parkinson’s Care Post Graduate Unit of Study in 2018-19 financial year. Each Award of up to $2,500 each enables selected nurses to apply to register for the January 2019 program.
The Parkinson’s Care Post Graduate Unit of Study is a collaborative project between the Australian College of Nursing and Parkinson’s Australia.
Parkinson’s Queensland’s CEO, Mark Hindle, said; ‘Parkinson’s Care nursing is very important to our members and, indeed, all people affected by Parkinson’s whether they be diagnosed, family, Carers, friends or colleagues. Parkinson’s Queensland enthusiastically believes the availability of Parkinson’s Care Post Graduate Unit of Study program will assist with reinforcing the importance of the role of the Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists within the community and to governments.’
‘Parkinson’s Queensland sees this offer as a positive step towards encouraging greater engagement with nurses who have an interest in Parkinson’s Care. We are hopeful these awards will be the start of a greater level of Parkinson’s qualified nurses available in Queensland.
‘PQI’s grants clearly demonstrate to governments at all levels that it wants to see the availability of qualified Parkinson’s Care nurses increase in our State and that we have put our investment into moving that towards a possibility. Today’s awardees are the vanguard of what we hope will be a strong and growing graduate list through the program.
‘On the national front, we are very hopeful the intense efforts led by Parkinson’s Australia to Federal government will eventually provide opportunities for increased availability of Parkinson’s Care nurses’ Hindle said.
Parkinson’s Queensland proudly announces that Awards have been made to the following:
- Mrs Rachael White RN, Neurology Nurse, Townsville;
- Mrs Rebecca Ward RN, Neurology Nurse, Buccan
Congratulations to both.
