It is really exciting when local communities get behind Parkinson’s Support Groups especially when it furthers well-being and fitness while raising funds. So it was when Currimundi based Salt Health Club held the first of many events on Saturday 8th September launching their support for Parkinson’s.

This event was doubly special as it honoured local and Parkinson’s identity, Shirley Voss.

Shirley turned 75 years on Friday 7th September, the day before Saturday’s Event, so it gave the team at Salt Health Club even more reason to Celebrate.

It was a wonderful day. They had had a live band playing music in their reception area, additional classes on Group Fitness timetable, 2x masseurs who donated their time and a dress up day in our Crèche.

The Salt Team encouraged Gold Coin or Note donations and  were very impressed with the generosity of their Members.

From this Event the Salt Health Club team raised $408 with Allan & Shirley Voss contributing an additional $100. We know the total is growing daily currently sitting at just short of a fantastic $1000!

So, why would Salt Health Club want to support Parkinson’s? A good question. Here’s their story.

Rick’s Father and Shannon’s Grandfather- Ian Keith Young passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease back in 2008 and one of our beautiful SALT Members Shirley Voss also suffers from the disease which is why we have chosen Parkinson’s Queensland as our ongoing Charity of Choice.’

Thank you to all at the Salt Health Club for their support and congratulations on your success to date.

Parkinson’s Disease is the second most common neurological condition in Australia but remains one of the least understood, which is why it is important to create awareness through events and fundraising for this incredible organisation.
